Bernadette Bearclaw, although preferred to be called Bernie, is a 39-year-old ex-skypirate captain turned freighter ship captain, or so she claims. Using her airship 'Eagle', she makes a living by taking contracts for any profitable deals no matter from whom nor how suspicious or shady.Hailing from Limsa Lominsa, she speaks with a very hard accent and it is there where she began her career as a pirate. Her presence upon ships started very early in her life and she quickly earned herself a reputation among her crew of being a very good sharp-shooter as well as a natural leader.She is a very proud, stoic and strong woman, living up to the Highlander ideal. She does not let anyone get in her way and she does things her way whether people like it or not. Not without a mischievous side however, she does like a good engaging exchange as well as teasing and poking fun at others. Good fun and great company accompanied with an ale are one of her favourite pass-times.

The quality which makes Bernadette stand out the most is definitely her boundless confidence in herself, which could be easily called arrogance.Cocky, overly confident and a snarky attitude can be sensed from a distance from this Highlander as she walks into a room. However, this nature is mostly meant as fun and amusing, not rude or insulting towards other people; or at least usually not. Paired with her cocky nature, she also loves to tease people and she does it to her heart's content as well as poke fun at them wherever possible. The intentions are never malicious but, to some, they may definitely appear so. A confident person possessing a quiet certainty. She is generally optimistic, self-reliant, resilient, and comfortable in her environment no matter the setting. Her confidence also shows in her playful and flirtatious ticks. She flirts openly with men who appeal to her visually, and even more if they truly tickle her fancy.During her years as a captain, she had demonstrated great leadership skills as well as empathy towards her crew, proving that despite her harsh and demanding nature, she still is humane and seeks to keep those around her happy and pleased. Most of the time she won't show this side of herself to anyone; and even while she might present kindness, she will argue against it openly. Her image is most important to her and she wants people to see her as a strong pillar which never crumbles or shows weakness.Despite her strong personality and self-assurance, she does have her weak points like any other person; the main one being her short fuse. Few people know how to truly get under her skin and she would prefer it to stay that way. But for those select few who are smart enough to notice it, she absolutely cannot stand it. She will not hold back any punches and has no remorse on handing someone a good knuckle-sandwich, even if the consequences may be big. She does not take insults lightly of any nature, even if they were meant as a joke, so best to watch ones tone with her. Another one of her downsides is the inability to show vulnerability. Proud and arrogant, she keeps her private life in wraps and shares none of her personal dealings with anyone. Any weaknesses or sides which people could exploit, she buries them deep down.Portraying such a strong persona, intimate feelings are not something she takes into account, or at least not often. To her they are a weakness which can be used against her and she finds any sorts of attachments revolting and openly shuns them. While she openly flirts and beds men, she refuses it to go the other way around. In her mind, she is the one doing the actions and taking the lead, not them. She is unable to let go of this arrogance and is not a woman to be tied down or dominated, taking pride in her status.

Appearance

At first glance, the attribute which stands out the most on this Highlander is the eye-patch over her right eye. She never takes it off, unless washing her face or going to sleep. While none see her right eye, a clear deep scar can be seeing under the eye-patch, going from her forehead and ending below the eye, implying the reason for the obstruction. Her left eye is a vibrant emerald green, assuming her right is the same but hidden.She has long rich chestnut brown hair adorning her head, reaching the middle of her back but she tends to keep them tied up in a neat braid or a ponytail with two curls at the sides. She finds keeping the hairs lose is very impractical and makes certain to keep the hairs out of her face. Rarely would anyone ever see her with her hair let down.Bernadette is a very tall Highlander with a well-toned body, but not the bulkiest to exist. Living her life on the edge, she does have multiple cuts, scars and burns but none of the wounds would appear overly large or life-threatening; more alike to a child who climbed too many trees and fell down. She has sun-kissed skin due to long exposures to the sun as well as times spent at waterfronts. She's not one to care of her looks, nor necessarily look after herself, thus, pays little attention to her skin or clothes. Her favourites tend to be deep reds and browns, sometimes will small golden or silver accents. Casual shirts or t-shirts, including coats, but for legs she will always wear trousers. She absolutely despises feminine attire and would rather die than wear any. The only 'hint' of anything feminine would be a pair of golden earrings which she always wears.
